Brain tumors and brain biopsies

Precise diagnosis and surgery planned case by case. When something has to be confirmed before deciding, a biopsy identifies the tumor through a minimal procedure.

Lumbar and cervical disc herniation

Back or neck pain that radiates into the leg or arm. Many cases improve without surgery; when surgery is necessary, it is done with the least invasive technique possible.

Spine: fractures and instrumentation

Treatment of vertebral fractures and stabilization of the spine with instrumentation when there is instability or compression of the spinal cord or the nerve roots.

Neuroendoscopy and hydrocephalus

Abnormal buildup of fluid in the brain, in children and adults. Conventional treatment (shunt valves) and endoscopic treatment.

Head trauma

Emergency care for traumatic brain injury and its complications — hematomas, fractures, cerebral edema. Follow-up for the after-effects of trauma

Cerebrovascular disease

Conditions of the blood vessels of the brain: hemorrhages, aneurysms and the after-effects of vascular events. Timely diagnosis and treatment coordinated with the hospital. Follow-up of ischemic and hemorrhagic cerebrovascular disease.

Seizures

Workup and management of seizures: finding the cause, treatment with medication and neurosurgical assessment when appropriate.

Pain management

Headaches, chronic low back and neck pain. Management with medication, nerve blocks and targeted procedures, without going to the operating room when it is not needed.

We go over your symptoms, your history and any studies you already have, together. A complete diagnostic plan.

Tests and plan

If tests are needed, they are ordered precisely — only the necessary ones. With the full diagnosis we define the treatment plan.

Surgery and follow-up

If your condition requires surgery, before we operate you know exactly what will be done and what to expect in recovery. Afterwards, follow-up is directly with me.

Rehabilitation

Recovery doesn't end in the operating room. For rehabilitation I work with trusted partners in Portoviejo and Manta.
